Muscle Spasms

Muscle Spasms are present when a muscle tightens up for a period of time. Spasms may appear for no apparent reason and may last for an unknown period of time. The muscles of the body spasm when they cannot send signals to and from the brain. This leads to poor circulation, swelling and pain.

It is a nerve's job to carry signals from the body to the brain and from the brain to the body. When the bones of the spine (vertebrae) are out of alignment (sublexated) they put pressure on the nerves that exit from between them. This pressure causes the signal to and from the brain to be interrupted. When this happens, the communication between the body and brain is altered and this may lead to muscle spasms.

Chiropractic adjustments allow the openings between the vertebrae to be as large as possible, allowing nerves to function.
